FAQ’s

2024-2025 School Year (September-August)

What is Montessori?

The Montessori pedagogy was developed in 1907 by Dr. Maria Montessori. It is meant to develop skills for the whole child which means hands-on, interest-based, scholastic exploration. The Montessori Method is not a religion based educational style as many believe.

How is tuition paid?

Statements are added by the number of contact days for the entirety of the year and divided equally into 12 months. Enrolling students in the program is a year long commitment and tuition requirements reflect as such. Tuition payments are billed and collected through the Brightwheel App. Tuition payments can also be accepted in cash at the school with a notation provided in Brightwheel.

Is there any tuition assistance available?

Although we are a private school and unable to accept government assistance programs, we have partnered with BEST Homeschool to provide a financial assistance alternative. This program is available for students Kindergarten age and above (5 by September 1st). Inquire with us for more information.

What does year round schooling mean?

We attend from September thru August each year. We do not follow a traditional school district schedule to alleviate “summer burn out” while enjoying curriculum areas many students aren’t offered in a traditional schooling environment.

How are grades given to elementary age students?

Letter or number grades are not how progress is measured in our program. Instead, a student will be observed and the lessons presented, practiced, and mastered are noted to parents througout the year.

What about allergies?

We do recognize allergies and will provide all necessary steps to keep children safe. We do however still allow gluten and peanut friendly foods in lunches. We will simply make sure students are separated when needed.

What is Grace & Courtesy?

This is a piece of curriculum which develops polite and respectful behaviors from children in a number of social situations. Our school often refers to grace and courtesy in the lunch room. We enjoy having community lunches which are prepared by students for the entire school to enjoy together. This means we prepare the food and the environment. Students will place table clothes on the tables, arrange flowers, set ambient music, and ensure all students are served before beginning to eat.

What is normalization?

Normalization refers to the focus, concentration, and independence of the children, by their own choice. It means they have acquired the internal freedom to initiate work, be independent, and adhere (by choice) to the rules of the environment. Some characteristics of normalization include: self-discipline: the ability to focus and use lessons with the goal of mastering the concepts; sociability: the ability to help, respect, and have sympathy/empathy for others; love of work: the ability to choose work freely and find joy in it.
